    Of Zombies & Rebellions…

    2016 - 10.22

    Boardgames played at Andrew’s today.

    1. Pandemic
    2. Star Wars Rebellion.
    3. Dead of winter.
    4. Zombie Dice

An excellent day had by all I believe. PC repairs were swift & successful. Star Wars Rebellion ended up with Rebel Scum being allowed to live to fight another day, the world was consumed by 2 Pandemics, and a couple of Zombie infestations. Overall a fairly successful gaming day, with much fun had by all.

    Spirits Lifting…

    2016 - 10.22

I have a Boardgaming session at Andrew’s today. Boardgames to hopefully be played today:

    1. Pandemic
    2. Star Wars Rebellion.
    3. Dead of winter.
    4. Zombie Dice

Some of these will hurt like hell I think. I cut my finger (pinky) while making breakfast this morning and it’s stuffing my typing right up. I keep ending up hitting the “caps lock” without noticing because I can’t feel as well with the band-aids on my finger.

It seems we will be doing PC repairs before hand though. Damned Windows. Why can’t they just give in to the ease which is Apple? 🙂

    Small Steps (Forward?)…

    2016 - 10.21

I woke up around 04:00 and it seems Chemoux has been keeping guard of me overnight so at least I’ve been in good paws. Heading out to a friend’s house tonight, fixing up his PC and board gaming tomorrow before heading home. Hoping this will improve my mood.

On the positive side of life though I have managed to start getting down those short stories I indicated I was going to give a shot. Still on the first one, but at least I’m moving on them.

    Play It Safe…

    2016 - 10.09

Today I decided to heed the weather warnings and stayed close to home. I went around the corner to Chris’ house and we played Mansions of Madness Version 2. That was very entertaining, funny even, very enjoyable overall. The new mechanic of working with an application as the “Keeper” seems to work very well. Chris enjoyed it as well and even thinks his wife (Gabi) will enjoy it next time.

I would say my only disappointment about the game is the fact that upon release there are only 4 adventures included with the application initially. According to reviewers on the internet, there are several “endings” for each adventure. Additionally I’m sure that when you have the expansions included from either version one or two, that gives it even more replay ability. Let’s hope that Fantasy Flight Games add some more adventures soon. I thoroughly recommend it.

    2015 - 08.21

Mark & I christened the Gaming Table tonight with our first game of Elder Sign. I’ve played the iPad version, and enjoyed it for several years, but only recently purchased the boardgame via Book Depository while it was reduced, along with one of the Expansions. We even won the game, which is more than I can say happens very often with the iPad version of the game. I think I’ve only won about 3 games in all my time playing it. That said, I’m always playing the harder Old Ones, so deserved to be punished.

It was good to finally have a game on the new table with someone else and enjoy the experience of having an “arena” for the games! Here I am mulling over the next step (photo courtesy of Mark).

    Used Spell.

This table was a project of mine earlier in the week. A $200 Board Gaming table top. At the moment it just needs the corners finished off nicely, and then after I’ll finish designing and building the lid. I engaged the assistance of my father with this little project for a bit of “Father / Son” time (and the extra pair of hands). We both enjoyed the afternoon putting it together although I’m pretty sure Dad didn’t “get it” until he saw it coming together. Anyway it was good to spend some time with him on a project and get to use my own power tools. Clearly I’m now out of Apprenticeship and am allowed to handle my own tools. 🙂

    Behold Cthulhu Wars…

    2015 - 05.20

    Awesomeness is…
    Cthulhu Wars
This is a test play of the four player game to get the feel for it! Feel has an added dimension in this game because these pieces FEEL awesome!

You feel the HUGENESS and otherworldliness of each of H.P. Lovecraft’s Ancient Ones.

    H.P. Lovecraft rejoice…

    2015 - 05.13

Yesterday arrived what I believe will be one of my most Awesome Boardgames in my Collection. When I sort some photos I shall show you Cthulhu Wars!

    The Force is with Me…

    2015 - 05.08

Well the week may not have been particularly cheery, motivating or anything much for that matter, but at least a long overdue delivery (5 weeks to get here) has finally arrived.

    Imperial Assault

Imperial Assault now joins “the Cupboard of Craig’s Cardboard”! I must confess I can’t wait for the first game! There is however an even more anticipated arrival on it’s way, but more on that next week I hope.

    Cardboard Everywhere…

    2015 - 03.30

I’ve been on a board games spree this last month, catching up on all the titles I’d been putting off last year. But now that I’ve cleared those credit cards, I’ve been catching up. Latest to join the cupboard of “board gaming goodness” are the following titles listed below.

Descent: Journeys in the Dark Version 2 and all the expansions for it.
Descent: Journeys in the Dark Version 2 conversion kit for Version 1.
    Android.
    Merchant of Venus.
    Battle of Five Armies.
Eldritch Horror and Mountains of Madness Expansion.

Last weekend the Photography took a second place to the gaming. Speaking of Gaming, I have finally got to play what will most likely be the last computer game I buy: Pillars of Destiny. I’ve been looking forward to this games for months. The wait is over and it’s every bit as good as I’d hoped. For fans of the BG I & II, Icewind Dale and Torment games, look no further for you reprise of a dose of good old fashioned RPG.

And as an aside there’s a nice new Macbook Pro on it’s way too. The PC is being donated to a friend who no doubt will relish every windows moment! The PC hasn’t been used since over a year ago when I bought the 27″ iMac.

Time in A Different Sort of Dungeon…

    2014 - 03.10

I’m just sitting here reflecting, on the weekend just past. I’ve had a great weekend. Dusty arrived on Friday night, and we had a quick chat and then went to bed at my usual time. We both were up early on Saturday morning, enjoying a light breakfast then after that making sure the chores were done. Subsequently we went for a walk around the neighbourhood for him to reminisce and then a drive around town so that he could enjoy some fresh air with slightly more insane traffic than he’s used to now. After that there was a quick jaunt in JB and Officeworks. We returned home to have a quiet afternoon sitting on the patio chatting and generally taking it easy. Our original intention was to spend Saturday playing Descent: Journeys in the dark (first edition) and possibly Sunday too. It seemed, that we needed Saturday to unwind, debrief from work / study as both of us confessed to feeling extremely relaxed after basically doing nothing Saturday afternoon and evening. Anyway, Sunday was spent playing Descent: Journeys in the dark (first edition). We managed to put in a good 13 hours solid dungeon crawling, With Dusty creating a huge pile of carcasses comprised of Skeletons, Dark Priests, Spiders, Kobolds, Ferox, Razorwings, Sorcerers and an Ogre. What can I say other than that it was as good a weekend as I had hoped it would be.
