    There comes a time…

    2010 - 05.02

This week I plan finish Mass Effect 2 by the end of the week. In fact I will have no sex until I finish this game, so it better be before week’s end, or I’m going to be moving towards a sex free weekend! It’s been too long waiting to finish. I have at least 3 others to finish too. I may have to apply the same caveat to them also…

    A quick Dock in Port…

    2010 - 04.10

Fun night, bit of “hanging” around with “encouragement” by an old friend, although left to sleep alone and no breakfast duet… ๐Ÿ™

Still worked off the week’s work angst ๐Ÿ™‚ And it rained last night and this morning, so a not too shabby start to a weekend.

Did manage a quick slip into JB HiFi early last night before the show and picked up “9” on Blue-Ray. Should enjoy that tonight I think.

    The Trouble with Tentacles…

    2010 - 03.21

Asari Table Top dancing is trouble waiting to happen and the go-go to die for: there really is something about the powder blue skin…

Dancing in the Tears of the Gods…

    2010 - 03.07

As no doubt some of you will realise, this has been my absolutely favourite weather. The last 24 hours has just been everything I should ask for in a day including sitting next to a demi-goddess: to ask for more is nothing short of ingratitude.

I’ve been home, no requirement to be anywhere particularly, not needing to do anything. It’s rained heavily most of the day, and I’ve read, played boardgames (in this instance War of the Ring), sat and walked outside in the rain.

This evening, all I’ve done is lie in bed on crisp and clean sheets listening to the rain, dozing off, waking to the rain, dozing off several times. Outside of someone lying beside me sharing some of these moments in time, it couldn’t be a better day. I’ve just meandered through my own personal Shangri-La.

The Cosmos is most generous with me today.

    Waiting so long and yet…

    2010 - 03.06

Well after waiting until yesterday to be able to install it, and this morning to be able to play it, the jury is still out on Supreme Commander 2. I can’t say I instantly think it is better. I really can’t say yet, and that’s not necessarily a good thing but may not be bad either, too early to tell.

    Blowing STEAM…

    2010 - 03.02

    Fuckitty Fuck Fuck!!

I hate STEAM. I have definitely just bought my last PC game ever I think. It’s bad enough that Supreme Commander 2 is Steam, but I can’t even fucking install the game for 2.5 more days, because EVEN THOUGH I’ve just puchased the media today (i.e. disc), I’m not able to install it because of STEAM!

I know it’s not really STEAM’S fault per se, damned publishers too! They’ve finally killed the PC market for me with one of my favourite games… ๐Ÿ™

And I obviously DIDN’T REMEMBER this “..Certainly I wonโ€™t buy Supreme Commander 2 for the console, but if Iโ€™m going to be inconvenienced for legitimately buying a game I would previously genuinely have bought unseen, I think not! Now itโ€™s got to the point for me that I have to wait and see what crap others have to put up with before I go out to buy a PC game.”! I didn’t wait, and, well I deserve the pain really for my own instant gratification.

    Yes I paid for…

    2010 - 02.12

No worries with the xbox 360 version of Bioshock 2 so far DAMN FINE. They’ve enhanced the good, fixed a few issues, and done a nice job on a sequel.

Interestingly these days I’m rarely interested in buying a PC version of anything, but recent events make it VERY LIKELY I’ll rarely buy one now. Too much intrusive “protection” has pretty much killed me with regard to games for PC’s. There’s no doubt that the PC is the only real format for RTS, but if I can’t depend on a trouble free experience there’s no point. There are still companies out there such as Stardock that believe that a gamer will pay for a product, and they don’t need to charge exorbitant prices nor smother a product within intrusive “copy protection” systems that do nothing but intrude on the legitimate purchaser’s experience. I’ve been happy to support such companies over the years, and it looks like they are going to be my only choices for RTS purchases.

    So you PAID for that…?

    2010 - 02.10

Well glad I’m not big fan of buying PC games nowadays. I might have bought Mass Effect 2 or Bioshock 2 for the PC, and been really fucking pissed that I paid to be stuffed around: and those who don’t pay have all the fun and no inconvenience! Admittedly I won’t buy these games for PC, although I WILL buy them to play on xbox 360 quite cheerily. I’ll be looking very closely at what might be done to Supreme Commander 2 just prior to release and may actually wait a day or so now, and see what comes up on the internet from the early adopters! Certainly I won’t buy Supreme Commander 2 for the console, but if I’m going to be inconvenienced for legitimately buying a game I would previously genuinely have bought unseen, I think not! Now it’s got to the point for me that I have to wait and see what crap others have to put up with before I go out to buy a PC game. Seems that saves me a fair bit of grief nowadays. And let’s face it, those who know me, know I’ve not been shy of buying games over the years. I even own multiple copies of some like Starcraft, Warcraft and several others, so I think I can legitimately bitch about intrusive “protection schemes”.

    Bags for Baggins…

    2010 - 02.06

Wonderful present received courteousy of Sara (although I believe thanks to Bronwyn too). Couple of Dice and/or Game Token bags. One seen below on Middle Earth Conquest board.

    Bag of Wonders

    Bag of Wonders

Perfect for my needs and I have 2 of them suitable for several games but one is definitely earmarked for War of the Ring. Furbag has give them a face rub of approval already.

    It’s a cold wind…

    2010 - 01.25

A final whiny moment and then I’m done I guess. Two games off my shopping list this year are Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3. Yes it’s clear that Blizzard and I part company as a consumer partnership. Their ridiculous excuse about not including LAN support on the basis of preventing piracy is just insulting. I won’t even deign providing links for the two aforementioned titles. If Blizzard did a flip on this I’d happily purchase both games, but short of that, I believe that Warcraft 3 will be my last blizzard game.

However, two games that I am looking forward to immensely and oddly both sequals, are Mass Effect 2, and Supreme Commander 2. Hopefully by the end of this week I’ll have a collector’s edition of Mass Effect 2. The other will have to wait until March if it maintains it’s release date.

Hopefully I’ll be finished Dragon Age: Origins by the end of the week, because I’m going to find it hard to not fire up Mass Effect 2 on Friday night.
