    Ol’ Eight Legs…

    2010 - 12.14

Came across my first Huntsman INSIDE the house since I moved here nearly 2 years ago! Fortunately s/he was small and there was no mexican stand off or Tarentella as is oft the case in such situations! I think I’m much better with spiders when they’re someone else’s problem than when they’re mine.

    More Alchemy

    2010 - 11.26

Apparently once again a kitten has transformed: into a whiteboard!

    Mysterious Alchemy…

    2010 - 11.21

Last Saturday I thought I’d find an apprentice for the Furbag since the RSPCA was having a program of free moggies. Apparently I can’t tell the difference between a cat and a table tennis table!

In the pouring rain, Dusty and I spent 15 minutes trying to get a packaged table tennis table into his car missing only by a couple of centimetres! Afer we revised our strategy, we were both soaked through and puzzling over how to hold it in the boot when a generous fellow offered us some rope without any prompting on our part. Following this we cautiously drove back home and constructed said table and no extra cat to be seen.

I can’t help but wonder what voodoo Furbag has been practising.

And the answer is: not 42…

    2010 - 09.06

Well the year rolls over, and the birthday shag tradition is intact just…
The Cosmos certainly toted with me though: I had no power from 0:45 Sunday morning until 18:30 Sunday evening. I’d rescheduled twice in anticipation of the worst! But fortunately all was sorted with time to spare. Considering my guest / present was traveling this had had me sweating (in a bad way).
Anyway saw in the early early morn in the most fitting way I can think of for such a day and that’s the main thing.
    The Cosmos provides.

    Identified Gap in Service…

    2010 - 06.29

I think that the way this Winter is headed (cold and rain wise) I need to find someone to regularly share the bed all night: there’s just too much good rain going to waste…

To be Open is to Close…

    2010 - 05.21

I’ve spent the best parts of both my teenage and adult life avoiding being close to people and letting them into who I am. I’ve used sex as an avoidance mechanism and it’s worked so successfully, that when it came down to it, Sammy and I couldn’t allow ourselves (either of us) to loosen the inner vault door that final few inches to let another cross in as completely as possible for two people. It’s a bit more complicated than that, and there was baggage on both sides. In the end we both had agreed we just couldn’t go there. Lost opportunities *sigh* sometimes they’re hard to swallow when the opportunity is permanently lost…

The perversity of the Cosmos is that when I actually wish to do this with another, and start to try doing so it negates the opportunity of apparent unattached sex and anything else, and there’s no escape from the feelings! I thought I’d be doing a better job and starting from a better point in the first place, by opening up, but somehow it’s gone elsewhere, no doubt in the Cosmos’ direction for me. It’s not necessarily the opposite of what I would hope, but it’s not how I would have preferred it to go. Not that I really know I guess. I ponder, but meaning is missing for me at the moment. I guess more will become apparent, but there definitely seems to be something crazy with how this show is written so far, I’m sure I didn’t write this script. But then again I always was wanting instant gratification, and there’s no doubt this time I didn’t, so I guess I got that right.

There is humour in this in a black way I guess…

    A moment in time…

    2010 - 05.09

Worth the effort just to see the smile, even if I did blush (NOT)!

    Changing Landscapes…

    2010 - 05.08

Strangest day shopping EVER! Not even close to the first change I thought I’d make to the house layout after settling in…

    2010 - 03.14

Well “Gandalf” has been retired and “Elrond” has been reincarnated as a Windows 2008 Server. Beleriand has moved on to be supplanted by Middle-Earth.

Gone is the 2K3 domain, to be replaced with a completely new 2K8 Forest/Domain(s) and Windows 7 clients. At the heart is an old Dell 2850, which admittedly is several years old, but will do the job I need it to do. All up about 10 hours for installation, creation of AD, configuring DNS, DHCP scopes, RAS, WSUS, Group Policy and configuration of various shares and printing resources.

Bit quicker than I gave myself credit for really. Still it’s up and running, with no real disruption. Interestingly my old UPS can’t handle the server for more than a couple of minutes, so another purchase looms I can see. As if to demonstrate this the power died for about 10 minutes immediately after I finished the final tasks today. Plop, server down in 2 minutes flat!

    Seems I love my Micro$lut…

    No time to be wicked…

    2010 - 01.02

Busy day today, only just now chilling out. Furbag and I did a reconnoitre of the boundaries this morning. Bit of tidying up some more branchs etc blown down by the winds from the rainstorm that also saved our butts the other night. Then off down Geelong to catch Sara since I didn’t get there New Year’s Eve. Then back home to cook up a couple of curries and then do some more staining of the woodwork around doors and windows. Working on the externals at this point, and it’s seems to be coming up excellently, amazing how a little work can make such a difference.
